I spent the summers of 2001 and 2002 at the School of Art at the Chautauqua Institution. I loved my time there; painting and learning what it means to be an artist. Before Chautauqua I did not really believe it was possible to be an artist. The artist/teachers were natural examples of what a life in art could look like. I would not be making art today without Chautauqua and the wonderful School of Art directed by Don Kimes. (thanks Don and Lois!)
Since my love for Chautauqua endures, I am thrilled that one of my embroideries, Gate, was selected by Jerry Saltz for inclusion in the 57th Chautauqua Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Art. (Over 750 pieces were submitted and only 39 were selected for the show.)
